ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — A Canadian soldier who died in Jordan was returned home to Newfoundland under escort Thursday.

Maj. Scott Foote’s remains were taken to St. John’s International Airport, where he was received by members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

Police escorted him to his final resting place, while firefighters stood on an overpass as the procession passed by.

Military officials say the 50-year-old from Carbonear was found unconscious in a gymnasium in Amman earlier this month.
