KAMLOOPS — RCMP say, in the age of online shopping, Kamloops residents should reconsider where they have their Christmas gifts sent.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says many people have purchases sent to their homes, and if they aren’t home at the time of delivery, the package will simply left on their front step.

Shelkie says that’s easy picking for thieves.

“It’s important to know that the thieves out there who are looking for parcels left of peoples front door step. To prevent the home deliveries being stolen, we recommend that you consider having the packages sent to your workplace, or to a family member, or a neighbour that is home during the day,” explained Shelkie.
