Blazers beat Silvertips 2-1 in overtime

KAMLOOPS — Rudolfs Balcers scored both of the Blazers goals in a 2-1 win over the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday night at home.

The Silvertips came out strong in the first period as they outshot the Blazers 10-3 in a scoreless first period.

Orrin Centazzo got the ‘Tips on the scoreboard midway through the second period. Jake Christiansen’s shot on goal generated a rebound and Centazzo was there to score his first of the season.

Rudolfs Balcers responded three minutes later after a great shift. Garrett Pilon set Balcers up at the side of the goal to make it 1-1 through two periods.

In the third period, the Blazers started to carry the play and had their chances. Matt Revel and Collin Shirley both hit posts in the period. The ‘Tips had a couple great chances in the period, but Connor Ingram was solid and the game went to overtime.

It was a quick overtime, as the Blazers scored 11 seconds in. Deven Sideroff stole a puck and fed Rudolfs Balcers for an open net and his 13th goal of the season in a 2-1 win over the ‘Tips.

Connor Ingram was outstanding for the Blazers with 33 saves, while Carter Hart stopped 21 shots. The Blazers were 0-for-3 on the power play, while the ‘Tips were 0-for-1.
