VICTORIA — The province says all types of businesses will be allowed to apply for liquor licenses starting next year, including barber shops, spas, cooking schools and book stores.

It says the change will provide businesses with the opportunity to expand and offer new services and opens up a new revenue source for the government.

All types of businesses will be able to apply for a liquor primary licence, as long as they don’t operate from a motor vehicle or target minors.

The change is effective January 23rd.
