Blazers rout Raiders 5-2

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers scored three first period goals in a 5-2 home ice win over the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night.

The Raiders scored the game’s first goal on a power play. Brendan Guhle went end-to-end and slipped a puck past Connor Ingram for a 1-0 lead 7:42 into the game. 

Deven Sideroff tied the game up less than two minutes later on a delayed penalty. His shot found its way past goaltender Ian Scott on the glove side to make it 1-1. 

Erik Miller gave the Blazers the lead as his long shot squeaked through Scott to make it 2-1.

Garrett Pilon made it 3-1 on a great feed from Deven Sideroff. The Blazers outshot the Raiders 18-7 in the period. 

Early in the second period, Shaun Dosanjh’s goal chased Scott from the net. His shot went off the back boards, off Scott’s skate and in for his first goal of the season. Nicholas Sanders came in relief for the Raiders.

Austin Glover cut the Blazers lead to 4-2 on a turnover. He beat Ingram on the stick side to cut the Blazers lead to 4-2. 

The Blazers played a solid third period as Rudolfs Balcers iced the game with his 11th goal of the season in a 5-2 win. 

The Blazers improved to 8-1-1-0 on home ice this season. The Blazers outshot the Raiders 36-23 and finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. 

The Blazers are home on Saturday night to the Prince George Cougars. Game time is 7:00pm.
