Kamloops Farmers’ Market has a new home for the winter

KAMLOOPS — Saturday marked the last outdoor Farmers’ Market in Kamloops for the year, but people will still be able to purchase items from local vendors throughout the winter.

The Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market is moving inside the Sandman Centre from Nov 2 to Dec 21.

“We’ll have more dates available after that,” said Adrienne de Candole, indoor Wednesday market manager. “We’ll start up again in January, we’re just not sure what that will look like at this point.”

15-25 vendors are expected to set up in the concourse every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

de Candole says the Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market had requested an indoor venue from the City in order to extend their season.

“Over the last few years the vendors have been looking for more and more indoor space as they have product left over,” de Candole explained. “We had the last outdoor market on Oct 29, and there’s still lots of produce to sell.”

She hopes the winter Farmers’ Market will be just as successful as it is in the summer.

“People come back every single week, so we have thousands of regular customers,” de Candole said. “We’re just hoping to keep those customers through the winter and make sure they have the opportunity to keep buying local.”
