KAMLOOPS — The race to become the next NDP candidate in Kamloops-South Thompson is back down to one.

Lillian Kwan announced today she is dropping out of the contest.

The retired teacher says in a news release that her personal and family circumstances have changed recently, and she has concluded this is not the time to seek political office.

Kwan’s departure leaves former Kamloops councillor Nancy Bepple as the only candidate for the nomination.

The party has previously said it would target December 11 for a candidate selection meeting, meaning the last call for nominees would be a month before that, on November 11.
