KAMLOOPS — While you wouldn’t think animals and beer mix, one local brewery held a fundraiser last night for the Kamloops branch of the BC SPCA. For the folks at Red Collar Brewing, it was a natural fit

The local craft brewery opened their doors for “Craft for Critters” Sunday night. The brewery offered tickets for $30, with proceeds going to help fund the purchase of new equipment for the local SPCA shelter. Anna Marie Beardsell, from Red Collar, says it was an easy decision to host the event.

“We have never done [a SPCA Fundraiser] before… but we are a place that loves animals, especially dogs,” Beardsell told CFJC Today.

The event was also somewhat of a memorial for Goosey, the inspiration behind the name of the Brewery.

“When we started Red Collar and were looking for a name, we decided to name it after the red collar that she had always worn, and she was a regular around the brewery, and lots of people looked for her when they came in.”
