KAMLOOPS — A tense situation outside Kamloops Christian School this morning.

According to Kamloops RCMP, a foster mother was dropping two children off at the school when the children's biological mother arrived and tried to take them.

When the foster mother tried to intervene, the biological mother pulled a knife on her.

Police say the suspect fled when someone from inside the school came to the foster mother's aid.

The woman was arrested about one hour later without incident, and police are recommending a charge of assault with a weapon.

The school had been put on lockdown while the suspect was outstanding, but RCMP say it returned to normal when she was arrested.
