KAMLOOPS — Fire crews quickly knocked down a fire inside a Sahali townhouse unit late Sunday morning.

Kamloops Fire Rescue was dispatched to the blaze at 1580 Summit Drive shortly before 11 a.m.

Acting Platoon Captain Chris Burnham said initial reports were that people were trapped inside.

"Upon arrival we found flames showing out the back of the condo," Burnham said. "We did a quick knock down of the fire and search of the building to find nobody inside."

Burnham said no one was harmed in the fire, but the top floor of the unit appears to be destroyed.

He added the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.

Plea expected from former Kamloops RCMP spokesperson
