KAMLOOPS — Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is less than 3 weeks away, and with that, New Life Community Kamloops is in need of the public’s help to serve up a delicious meal.

Volunteers and donations are needed to help New Life prepare more than just soup and buns on Monday October 10th. Thanksgiving is a popular time for the organization, that serves up a full turkey dinner to hundreds of clients every year, on just one day alone.

“I think last year we were over 300 people we served, you think about the fact we’ve been here for 36 years and that’s over 10,000 Thanksgiving dinners alone that we’ve served throughout the years, it’s always a really busy dinner for us, we’ll have a full house from the time we open up at 1 o’clock until probably 2 or 3 in the afternoon,” says Stan Dueck, Executive Director, New Life Community Kamloops.

In addition to financial contributions, New Life is in need of frozen turkeys, vegetables, desserts, and any other food items the community can provide, for not only the thanksgiving dinner, but for all the hot meals served to those in need, especially as the temperatures get cooler.

“We’re still looking for volunteers, we can always use frozen turkeys, we can always use a can of coffee, ground coffe, those kinds of things, they’re used 7 days a week, clothing and blankets, it’s the time of year where there’s more people looking for warm clothes and blankets as they’re sleeping outside, any of these types of things at all,” says Dueck.
