WolfPack women’s soccer team enters win column-men’s streak ends

KAMLOOPS —The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are into the win column for the first time in the 2016-17 Canada West women’s soccer league season.  The ‘Pack edged out the visiting University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves 2-1 at Hillside Stadium on Sunday..

The WolfPack closed out their opening home weekend of the season with the victory.  They showed more aggressiveness than any match this season and took the play to UNBC.  They welcomed third year defender Christine Fergin back into the line up and she was a steady force, being named the player of the match.  Sasha Sirianni  and Katie Harding were also solid for TRU.  Kelly Shantz picks up his  first career CIS head coaching victory.

Meanwhile, the University of Calgary Dinos tallied three times in the second half and went on to defeat the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack 4-2 in Canada West men’s soccer play Sunday in Kamloops.

The victory snapped the WolfPack’s two match winning streak.
