KAMLOOPS — RCMP say an Abbotsford man has been arrested for murder in the death of a woman at an Aberdeen motel last weekend.

The body of 52 year old Debra Novacluse, also of Abbotsford, was found at the Super 8 Motel on Hugh Allan Drive Saturday morning.

Police initially classified Novacluse’s death as suspicious, but have now confirmed it was a homicide.

Early this morning, officers arrested 54 year old David Miller in Napanee, Ontario, and he has been charged with murder.

Superintendent Brad Mueller says several different jurisdictions worked together to track Miller down and arrest him.

“Once we were able to confirm the suspect had left the city of Kamloops, investigators from the Serious Crime Unit began tracking Miller as he headed east. We were able to mobilize a team and track his movements using various investigative techniques,” said Mueller.

Officers say Miller and Novacluse knew each other, and the incident was isolated.

Mueller says Miller is known to police and is familiar with Kamloops.

“Through investigation, we’ve learned that Miller frequented Kamloops from time to time, but had little contact or involvement with our office. In this case, our investigation also revealed that the victim and suspect were known to each other and were involved in some form of a relationship.”

Mueller notes Miller’s has a record that includes fraud and violence.

Law enforcement officials are now in the process of transporting Miller back to Kamloops for his first court appearance.
