SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — The BC Coroners Service has identified a man who was hit and killed by a passenger train in Spences Bridge over the weekend.

He was 40 year old Jonathon Christopher Harris of Kelowna.

Spokesperson Barb McLintock says the collision happened at about 3:50 Saturday morning.

McLintock says Harris was walking westbound on the rail tracks when he was hit by an eastbound Via Rail train that was bound from Vancouver to Kamloops.

The Coroners Service says the train couldn't stop in time, and Harris could get off the tracks in time either.
