KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Teachers’ Federation Summer Conference wraps up in Kamloops on Friday, less than two weeks before teachers head to the classroom.

Teachers from across the province have been in Kamloops since Tuesday. New BCTF President Glen Hansman spoke to the delegation on Thursday at Thompson Rivers University, saying it will be a year of adjustments with a new K-9 curriculum coming into effect this school year.

Hansman says education in B.C. continues to lag behind other provinces, with the government paying $1,000 less per student compared to the rest of the country. He says the current B.C. Liberal goverment has been unwilling to provide sufficient funding to hire more teachers to reduce class sizes.
