KAMLOOPS — Fire ripped through a Westsyde home this afternoon, destroying the home’s contents and killing the family dog.

The blaze was reported at 4307 Karindale Road, at about 2:40 this afternoon.

Acting Captain Dan Funk says firefighters doused the flames as soon as they arrived.

“We started the attack on the main [floor], then we did attack on the second floor. We searched the main, and the second floor, all that was found unfortunately was a dog, he did not make it. Firefighters did try to resuscitate the dog, with no luck unfortunately,” explained Funk.

Funk says there is extensive damage throughout the home from flames and smoke, and it may rebuilding may not be a realistic option.

The fire’s origin isn’t known, and fire inspectors are working to determine what caused the blaze.
