KAMLOOPS —Kamloops lone athlete at the RIO Olympics is getting ready for her day in the sun.

Catharine Pendrel will take her ride in the women's mountain bike race on Saturday morning.

This will be Pendrel's third Olympics.

In 2008 in Beijing she went in under the radar and just missed the podium, finishing fourth.

Four years later in London, Pendrel was one of the favourites, but it did'nt work out, and she was ninth.

Now, coming off a World Cup win in Quebec two weeks ago, Pendrel is less than 48 hours away from what could be the biggest race of her career on Saturday.
