VERNON — A Vernon resident will make her case for keeping a pet pig at her home, to city council today.

22 year old Coralee Carrier was ordered by bylaw officers to get rid of her mini pot bellied pig Layla last month.

Bylaw staff told her it’s against the rules, and the animal was the subject of a noise complaint from a neighbor.

Carrier will be before council, arguing for an exemption, saying she has had the pig for over a year, and it’s a huge part of her family.
