Kamloops, BC—With the start of their 2016 Canada West training camp just a few days away, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s soccer team has added more European flavor to its lineup.

Head coach John Antulov and the WolfPack are announcing the commitment of right back Maxime Fieujean of France and center back Thomas Lantmeeters of Belgium.   Both will be in Kamloops for the start of training camp on August 2nd.

“I am very excited to come to TRU,’ says Lantmeers, who played with Zutendaal VV, an amateur club in Zutendall, Belguim last season.  “I hope to learn a lot about Cana da: the culture, make new friends and especially learn about myself.  There will be hard times when I miss my family, girlfriend and friends but there will be even more amazing experiences. I am most of all looking forward to training and playing with the WolfPack and I hope we have a great season.”

“I have heard many good things about the soccer program at TRU,’ states Fieujean, who played with FC Amberieu last season and hails from Servas, France.  “I think my strengths are my quality of long and short passes.”

Lantmeeters and Fieujean will both be taking courses aimed at earning a Bachelor of Business Administration at Thompson Rivers.

“I think I have a good tactical view on the game and as a center back, I am good at coaching my teammates in their position,’ states Lantmeeters.

Says head coach Antulov:  “We are pleased to have both join our program.  They give us an added strength on the blackline and versatility to play different positions. We have lost some very good players at the back but I feel that the addition of these two players will help offset some of that. Hopefully, they will be able to adapt quickly to Canadian soccer and our program and become integral parts of the WolfPack for years to come.”

The other European on the WolfPack roster is third year midfielder Khalifa Fanne of Tours, France.

Thompson Rivers opens its Canada West season on Saturday, August 27th at Hillside Stadium when they host the UBC Thunderbirds. Kickoff is 1 pm.

Other recruits for this season are: Kailum Nicolson (6’2”, centre back, Kamloops, BC-Valleyview Secondary/KYSA U-18), Brady VanRyswyk (6’2” keeper, Penticton, BC-Princess Margaret Secondary/Penticton Pinnacles, PSCL), Tomas Goddard (6’0” forward, Kamloops, BC- St Ann’s Academy/Kamloops Youth Soccer U-18),  and Lubomir Magdolen (6’3” keeper, Kamloops, BC-Sa-Hali Secondary).
