RCMP advise people not to handle old munitions

MERRITT  —  Merritt RCMP warning us that if you find any munitions while you’re out and about, don’t try to handle them yourselves. Last Thursday, a resident with good intentions found a possible live shell, and took it in to the RCMP detachment. The RCMP locked it away until the military came to check it out and dispose of it. Turned out, it wasn’t a live shell, but old munitions that have been laying around for decades are often not stable, and police warn that if you find something, contact them before you handle it. This particular shell was an old artillery shell.
