KAMLOOPS — Despite some ominous looking clouds this morning, Riverside Park was the site of the 6th Annual Seniors Picnic, hosted in part by the City of Kamloops.

Hundreds of people came out to the event, which featured lunch cooked by the Paddlewheeler’s Lions Club, as well snacks and live entertainment by the Kamloops Rube band.

This year is 6th edition of the Sr’s Picnic – Organizer Alex De Chantel says it’s a summer tradition born out of a winter one.

“[The picnic] actually came about from the senior’s light tour, which we offer in December. We wanted to throw a party in the summer, as well, for the seniors,” said Alex De Chantal, one of the City’s organizers of the event.
