Severe thunderstorm watch issued in Kamloops – again

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued another severe thunderstorm watch for the South Thompson region.

But forecaster Lisa Coldwells says, unlike yesterday, these potential storms won’t come from the coast.

“Because the upper low has shifted down into the Kootenays, today thunderstorms are going to start in the northeast and move towards the southwest. A little bit of an opposite direction. If you are out and about today, and looking at the sky to see where your weather is coming from, look to the northeast,” explained Coldwells.

Coldwells notes the storm activity should subside by this evening, but Kamloops can look forward to cloudy, drizzly weather through the weekend.

“The thunderstorm should start to dissipate in the evening, but it will still stay cool and showery for most of the weekend. We’re only looking at temperatures getting up to 25°C, under mainly cloudy skies, and a good chance of showers all the way until Sunday night.”
