KAMLOOPS — RCMP are asking for help locating a man who made off with $4,000 worth of cigarettes and lottery tickets from a Kamloops business early this morning (Monday, July 11).

According to Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, the thief gained access to Twin Rivers Market on Hugh Allen Dr around 2:30 by breaking the glass of a door with a rock.

She says surveillance video shows the thief breaking cabinets behind the counter to get to the cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Shelkie says it likely didn’t take much time for the break in to become a costly one.

“Cigarettes are so expensive that it adds up quickly. Same with lottery tickets, if you think about the $20 ones that are there, you can easily steal $4,000 dollars worth,” explained Shelkie.

The suspect was wearing a black balaclava, a thick yellow coloured work jacket with a hood, white gloves and he was carrying a black duffel bag. He left the store in a dark-coloured vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
