KAMLOOPS — Despite some rain showers, thousands of people filled Riverside Park on Friday, to celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday.

The east end of the park hosted the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art in the Park, a staple of Canada celebrations for over 40 years, while the west end hosted Folkfest, with a variety of international food, and cultural displays. From Korean, to Chinese, Flilpino to First Nations, Greek, and Italian, there was something for every person in the family.

The Rotary Bandshell was also part of the Folkfest celebrations, showcasing many different cultural acts, including the Kamloops Pipe Band, the Kamloops Japanese Cultural Society Raiden Taiko drummers, the Kamloops Rube Band, as well as many other performers. Later this evening is the official kickoff to Music in the Park, and the night will be finish off with a fireworks display at 10:30pm.
