KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Airport is turning over a NewLeaf.

Manager Fred Legace says the startup discount airline has announced it will begin direct service from Kamloops to both Edmonton and Victoria starting in July.

"We're looking at a couple of times a week to start: two flights a week into Edmonton and two flights a week into Victoria," said Legace.

"They originally came to talk to us about the possibility of Edmonton. I think with Westjet withdrawing direct service from that market, I think they saw that there may be some market for them."

NewLeaf's website shows flights to both cities on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting July 30th.

NewLeaf initially announced its launch in January, but was forced to delay by regulatory authorities pending a review.
