Provincial crews fighting smouldering ground fire West Kelowna, B.C.

WEST KELOWNA, B.C. — Wildfire crews have been called in to help fight a smouldering ground fire near West Kelowna, B.C.

Fire information officer Melissa Klassen says the BC Wildfire Service received reports of the fire along Spland Road in the West Kelowna region Friday afternoon.

She says the local fire department is fighting the fire, and the service has sent crews and a helicopter to help with the initial attack.

Two air tankers are also dropping retardant in the area to help stop the flames from spreading.
