KAMLOOPS — The extreme heat led to a hazardous material response on the Tk’emlups Indian Reserve last night.

Platoon Captain Troy Grant of Kamloops Fire Rescue says at about 10 p.m., crews were called to the Van-Kam Freightways warehouse on Sarcee Street West.

Grant says employees had reported a strange chemical smell inside.

He notes it appears to have been emanating from pails of ammonium hydroxide.
