KAMLOOPS — The Elizabeth Fry Society is asking the community for its generosity after a fire heavily damaged an apartment unit on the North Shore yesterday.

The fire hit a supportive housing complex on Westminster Avenue that housed women and children.

Board Member Penny Douglass says the occupants of the unit that was most affected need household items, but that's not all.

"We would really appreciate if people were interested in donating gift cards, and also any cash donations could be made to the Elizabeth Fry Society directly or through the United Way," said Douglass.

Douglass adds items from a second unit will need to be cleaned, and that activity is set to take place next Tuesday.
