Killer changes plea, to be sentenced in July

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man has changed his plea and will be sentenced in July, for the 2014 killing of his ex-girlfriend on the North Shore. 

Christopher Butler has already admitted he killed Deanne Wheeler inside his Cherry Avenue apartment on December 30th, 2014 however, he had originally intended to plead not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder.

According to Kamloops This Week, Butler’s lawyer Micah Rankin announced in BC Supreme Court this morning, that the accused has abandoned this line of defence. A sentencing hearing for the 41-year old has been set for July 11th.
