KAMLOOPS — McHappy Day in Kamloops and Merritt was an unmitigated success.

The event yesterday raised more than $70,000 to purchase a new ventilator for the Royal Inland Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Angela Seymour of McDonald's says the community has stepped up once again.

"It was an absolutely amazing day for the Kamloops community and the Merritt community," said Seymour. "Everyone came out and they donated and they bought Big Macs, Happy Meals, and hot McCafe beverages. So we say thank-you to the community for raising $70,400."

The goal for this year's event was $65,000.
