KAMLOOPS — Two more people have died of apparent overdoses in Kamloops.

Kamloops RCMP and BC Ambulance attended a home in the Rayleigh area of the city at approximately 9:30 Friday evening. There they found a 44-year-old man and 36-year-old woman dead.

RCMP say it's too early to speculate on the type of drug that caused the deaths but they are working alongside the BC Coroners Service as they continue to investigate the incident.

In a release, RCMP say these latest overdose deaths are a reminder of the risks associated with illicit drug use.

Earlier this month the province declared a public health emergency because of an increase in opioid overdose deaths in recent months.
