KAMLOOPS — Three Kamloops City Councillors are on their way to Ontario and Quebec today to check out open-pit mining in those provinces.

Mayor Peter Milobar will be joined by Councillors Tina Lange and Denis Walsh on the trip.

Councillors will visit Timmins and Sudbury in Ontario, and Malartic, Quebec during the course of the trip, which will last about a week.

Mayor Milobar says the council members will be talking with city council in each area, but will also talk with concerned citizens groups to get a good perspective of the pros and cons.

The tour will hopefully give them some fodder when discussing the proposed KGHM-Ajax project here.
