KAMLOOPS — Supporters of the ‘buy local’ movement have been looking forward to this all winter.
It was the first Saturday of the season for the Kamloops Farmers’ Market on St. Paul Street downtown.
Dieter Dudy of Thistle Farm is a fixture at the market and says he began picking items like radishes and spinach for the market.
Dudy says customers might be surprised with how many fresh items are available due to how early the growing season began.
“Everything is much earlier this year, the heat came on early, I’ve never seen 30° temperatures in April before, as long as I’ve lived here. The plants, the pests, the weeds, everything has come early,” said Duty.
Dudy adds the market’s appeal grows every year, partly because of how social the experience is for shoppers.
