Major road construction projects set for this Summer

KAMLOOPS — Work will begin soon on the first major road construction project of the season in Kamloops – that being a resurfacing of Notre Dame Drive between Columbia Street and Hillside Drive.

City of Kamloops Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says that project is in the tender phase, and it’s just the first of several.

“Shortly after that we have Pacific Way coming out, and we are doing a watermain replacement for about 400m, so there will be some pretty invasive work for about 400m, but then the rest of it, from Hugh Allen Drive to Aberdeen Drive, we are resurfacing that, and that will make a lot of people happy,” Crundwell said. 

Tranquille Road between 8th and 13th Streets will also be redone this year, as will Richmond Avenue.

Crundwell says they are all major projects, but won’t cause nearly as many headaches as the construction on Columbia Street and the Overlanders Bridge last summer.
