PRINCE GEORGE — RCMP have determined a fire that led to the evacuation of approximately 40 homes in the Valleyview area of Prince George yesterday, was caused by two young boys who were playing with matches.

Fire Crews were called out to the scene around 4:45 in the afternoon when smoke was spotted in a wooded area near the corner of Valleyview Drive and Mesa Drive.

Fire officials say the flames crept to withing metres of a couple of homes before fire crews managed to beat back the fire.

Police say the majority of the damage was limited to a shed and a patio at a home on View Place.
