KAMLOOPS — A large investment for Thompson Rivers University today will mean new training equipment for students in health care and skilled trades.

The advanced education minister made the announcement today at the university.

TRU will be receiving nearly $300,000 as a part of the provinces Skills for Jobs blueprint launched in 2014.

The government estimates one million job openings over the next decade with 80 per cent of those jobs being in the trades and health care sectors.

TRU says they are seeing more students all the time, and it's imperative to equip those students properly as they enter the workforce.
