Family members relieved as inquest wraps up

KAMLOOPS — Family members of a young man who took his own life outside of Royal Inland Hospital two years ago say they’re happy a coroners’ inquest into the death was called – and now they’re happy it’s over.

18 year old Jacob George Setah leapt to his death from the hospital parkade shortly after escaping from the hospital’s psychiatric ward. &lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;His aunt, Valerie Setah, says the family heard many of the facts of the case for the first time as part of this week’s inquest.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;And Valerie says she hopes the recommendations brought forward by the jury lead to change in the health system.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;”[We hope] that we have fewer gaps in our health care services, and that we are able to help our people that are in need sooner than later.”&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;As of mid-afternoon Thursday, the jury still had not returned with its recommendations.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/p?&lt;iframe&gt;
