KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops RCMP detachment is celebrating the retirement of one of its most valued members today.

Zak the police dog is turning in his badge after six years on the force.

Corporal Jodi Shelkie says since starting his service at age one, Zak has had a distinguished career.

“He did so much for the detachment and the community. He’s found a lot of lost children, he has went out and looked for lost hunters, he has been successful in tracking the bad guys, in locating drugs, weapons, and things like that,” explained Shelkie, adding “It is with a heavy heart that we are really sorry to see Zak go.”
