KAMLOOPS — Two people were injured after a crash south of Barnhartvale Friday night.

It happened on Campbell Creek Road at about 10:30 p.m.

Kamloops Rural RCMP say the driver of the GMC Acadia was trying to avoid hitting an animal when the SUV went off the road.

Both airbags deployed, and the vehicle's OnStar system alerted emergency dispatchers.

Police say both the driver and passenger were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with undetermined injuries, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
