PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Prince George Search and Rescue has suspended its search on the Salmon River for two snowmobilers who went missing Monday March 7.

Three men were out snowmobiling. When one man went into the river, the two others went in to try  save him.

Only one of the men managed to make it out of the river.

Search and Rescue set out immediately,  and searched until 2 o clock Tuesday morning. They were back out again on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, Search and Rescue’s Jeff Smedley says that due to dangerous conditions on the river their search has been suspended.

“We’ve currently suspended operations due to the conditions of the ice and the water. Over the last three days the water has risen 10-12 inches. So now any surface of ice that was stable, now is potentially unstable. The log jams are starting to move a little bit and that’s the areas that we need to go in and continue to look.”

The names of the men have not been released.
