KAMLOOPS — There is a happy ending to a story we brought you earlier this week.

A man was caught on a video surveillance camera, stealing a 600-dollar mattress from Penny Pinchers on Fortune Drive.

Manager Gwen McKay says this morning, the mattress had been returned to the back door of the store, with a note accompanying it.

"The note just happened to have an apology on it," said McKay. "It says 'I am returning this bed. I am very sorry for what I did. It was wrong and I completely regret my actions. I was not thinking straight. I hope that I can be forgiven for this stupid move I made."

McKay says the store will forgive the thief, and has also made plans to donate the mattress to the ASK Wellness Society.

"Hopefully that can help somebody else out, so we're quite happy about it," said McKay.
