KAMLOOPS — The Canada West regular season officially came to a close last night for the TRU WolfPack basketball teams.

The WolfPack knew they would be heading into the playoffs but they wanted to end the season on a positive note—and they wanted to claim the Presidents Cup for the second straight year.

That is a competition between TRU and UBCO in Kelowna.

The TRU men downed UBCO 88-79 to finish the Canada West season at 16-4 and claim first place in the Explorer Division.  Josh Wolfram had 25 points and six rebounds.   Wolfram, Reese Pribilsky and Gerard Gore were honored before the game as fifth year players.

TRU will have a first round bye and will host either Regina or Winnipeg in a three game quarterfinal starting March 3rd at the TCC.

The WolfPack women finished second in the Canada West Explorer Division. They beat UBCO 70-60 to wind up at 15-5. Kassie Colonna had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way for TRU.  The WolfPack honored Colonna, Taiysa Worsfold, Jenna Quinton and Sarah Malate after the contest as their graduating players.

TRU has a week off before playing in their Canada West quarterfinal in Edmonton against the Alberta Pandas.

The other WolfPack team in the Canada West playoffs is the women’s volleyball team. TRU will take on Trinity Western in the Canada West quarterfinals beginning Thursday in Langley. It’s a best of three series as well
