KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a shooting near a Kamloops truck stop last night was targeted.

It happened at about 8:45, when several nearby witnesses reported hearing gunshots near the intersection of Versatile Drive and Copperhead Drive.

Not long after, a 32 year old man stumbled into The Verse service station with a wound to his lower leg, and then collapsed.

Investigators believe the shooting happened at a nearby parking lot, and that there were multiple suspects who fled in two light coloured vehicles, heading eastbound on Versatile Drive.

According to Staff Sergeant Edward Preto, the suspects had targeted the victim, and there is no threat to the general public.

As for the victim, he was taken to hospital for surgery.

The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit and Targeted Enforcement Unit are investigating.
