Speed and alcohol suspected in crash that injures 5

MERRITT — Merritt RCMP and the Central Interior Traffic Services are investigating a serious motor vehicle incident that occurred this morning at 1:00 o’clock on the Coquihalla Highway near Mine Creek exit.
Sgt Mike Pears says the incident involved a northbound Honda Civic with five people inside.
“The car lost control and ended up going off the highway. It is fortunate no one was ejected from the vehicle,” says Sgt Pears.
The occupants, who were all from the Lower Mainland, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals in Merritt and Kamloops.
