Low gas prices in Kamloops

The price to fuel up in Kamloops is among the lowest across the province sitting as low as 80.9 cents a liter at some stations over the weekend.  .

Senior Petroleum Analyst with Gasbuddy.com Dan McTeague says prices could start to come up this week though. Most stations are at 83.9 cents a liter this morning.

He says a lot of people wonder why prices aren’t even lower, but he says the strength of our dollar plays into that. He says we have to remember we price all of our gasoline in U.S. terms. What looks like a real bargain doesn’t add up for Canadians who tend to lose a lot of purchasing power giving the weakness in the dollar. He says if the Canadian dollar were trading on par with the U.S. Dollar you’d be saving at least 13 cents a litre today.”

McTeague says gas prices in Kamloops have been the  second lowest in B.C. to Prince George.
