PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — One person was killed in an avalanche in Torpy area Saturday, according to Prince George Search and Rescue.

PG SAR’s Dale Bull says, “a party of five snowmobiles were riding when one member of the group became involved in an avalanche. That one person was fatally injured. The other four members of the party were uninjured and able to ride out of the area.”

The slide occurred in the Sande riding area within the open riding area of Evanoff Provincial Park, approximately 120 kilometres northeast of Prince George.

The snowmobilers were able to contact RCMP to alert them to the incident. RCMP then called on Search and Rescue just before noon Saturday.
