CHILLIWACK, B.C. — Two men are dead after their vehicle veered off road and plunged into the Fraser River in Chilliwack.

Rescue crews responded around 1:30 Sunday morning to find a truck upside down and underwater.

Doug Fraser of Chilliwack Search and Rescue says the vehicle left a gravel road and dropped six metres over an embankment and into the frigid waters.

Fraser says it’s uncertain how long the truck was in the river and that crews are trying to determine what caused the crash.
