KAMLOOPS — Senior citizens across Kamloops have been struggling to clear the snow from their driveways and sidewalks after this week's dump.

That has Oncore Seniors Society working hard to match up homeowners with volunteers shovelers as part of its Snow Angels program.

Co-ordinator Lorraine Mallon says everything has been going smoothly.

"Not knowing what it was going to be like with this first big fall of snow, we were bracing ourselves," said Mallon. "But it's gone really smooth. As far as we know, all of our volunteers were out and we've had a huge response back from our volunteers."

Mallon says there is still a list of more than 100 seniors waiting to be matched up with volunteers, but the volunteer list has doubled since last year.
