KAMLOOPS — A Barriere man has been left with nothing after his mobile home went up in flames yesterday.

Barriere Fire Chief Al Kirkwood says crews were called to the Riverland Trailer Park at about 2:45 yesterday afternoon.

"We knocked the fire down, the trailer was a complete loss. The resident was not in, nor were there any animals or pets whatsoever involved there," said Kirkwood who also noted the man did not have insurance.

Kirkwood says it appears the fire was started by a wood furnace, though that's not yet final.

He notes the man is staying with family for now, and the community is coming together in an effort to help him out.
