Collection week for Operation Christmas Child

Nov 18, 2015 | 11:30 AM

Ahead of the holidays Kamloops residents are asked to think about children in dire situations around the world by taking part in Operation Christmas Child. Last year Kamloops filled 2,600 shoeboxes with hygiene products, school supplies and toys for boys and girls living in war, poverty and disaster.

The goal locally this year is to beat last year’s total. The initiative which began over twenty years ago has distributed 100 million boxes to kids around the globe.

This week marks collection week for those participating.

If you’re able to donate gift filled shoeboxes you’re asked to drop them off November 18th and 19th from 4pm until 6pm. Or from 12pm until 6pm on November 20th, 21st or 22nd at St Andrews Presbyterian Church on 6th Avenue in Kamloops.
